PHELPS “CATFISH” COLLINS

With his broad smile and easygoing manner, Catfish Collins became one of funk’s foremost rhythm guitarists. Collins formed the Pacemakers in 1968 with younger brother Bootsy, and both later played on several James Brown and P-Funk classics. The native Cincinnatian (b. 1943) also played as a band member with Bootsy on Bootsy’s Gold funk masterpiece “Stretchin' Out in Bootsy's Rubber Band.”
